It is considered equivalent to half of the Quran, and in another narration, it is equivalent to a quarter of the Quran, with no contradiction. The first view considers it from the perspective that rulings are divided into worldly and otherworldly rulings, and this surah encompasses the otherworldly rulings in general, exceeding {Al-Qari'ah} by mentioning the extraction of weights and that every individual will see all that they have done. The second view considers it in light of the hadith narrated by At-Tirmidhi on the authority of Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, in which the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: 'A servant does not truly believe until he believes in four things: testifying that there is no deity but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah, sent with the truth, believing in death, believing in the resurrection after death, and believing in destiny.' This hadith implies that believing in the resurrection, which this surah confirms, is a quarter of complete faith as indicated by the Quran. Furthermore, the commandments of religion are divided into four parts: the affair of the Object of Worship, the affair of the servants, the affair of worship, and the affair of reward. This surah is concerned with the affair of reward, while Surah Al-Kafirun is a quarter because it specifically deals with the affair of worship in a private and perfect manner, and Surah An-Nasr is a quarter because it deals with the affair of worship in a general, public, and elevated manner - and Allah is the Guide to what is correct, and to Him is the return.
