بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Verse 1 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 3 words

إِذَا وَقَعَتِ ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ

When the Occurrence occurs,

إِذَا idhā When
وَقَعَتِ waqaʿati occurs
ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ l-wāqiʿatu the Event

Verse 2 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 3 words

لَيْسَ لِوَقْعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ

There is, at its occurrence, no denial.

لَيْسَ laysa Not
لِوَقْعَتِهَا liwaqʿatihā at its occurrence
كَاذِبَةٌ kādhibatun a denial

Verse 3 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 2 words

خَافِضَةٌۭ رَّافِعَةٌ

It will bring down [some] and raise up [others].

خَافِضَةٌۭ khāfiḍatun Bringing down
رَّافِعَةٌ rāfiʿatun raising up

Verse 4 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 4 words

إِذَا رُجَّتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ رَجًّۭا

When the earth is shaken with convulsion

إِذَا idhā When
رُجَّتِ rujjati will be shaken
ٱلْأَرْضُ l-arḍu the earth
رَجًّۭا rajjan (with) a shaking

Verse 5 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 3 words

وَبُسَّتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ بَسًّۭا

And the mountains are broken down, crumbling

وَبُسَّتِ wabussati And will be crumbled
ٱلْجِبَالُ l-jibālu the mountains
بَسًّۭا bassan (with awful) crumbling

Verse 6 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 3 words

فَكَانَتْ هَبَآءًۭ مُّنۢبَثًّۭا

And become dust dispersing.

فَكَانَتْ fakānat So they become
هَبَآءًۭ habāan dust particles
مُّنۢبَثًّۭا munbathan dispersing

Verse 7 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 3 words

وَكُنتُمْ أَزْوَٰجًۭا ثَلَـٰثَةًۭ

And you become [of] three kinds:

وَكُنتُمْ wakuntum And you will become
أَزْوَٰجًۭا azwājan kinds
ثَلَـٰثَةًۭ thalāthatan three

Verse 8 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 5 words

فَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ

Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right?

فَأَصْحَـٰبُ fa-aṣḥābu Then (the) companions
ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ l-maymanati (of) the right
مَآ mā what
أَصْحَـٰبُ aṣḥābu (are the) companions
ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ l-maymanati (of) the right

Verse 9 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 5 words

وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ

And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left?

وَأَصْحَـٰبُ wa-aṣḥābu And (the) companions
ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ l-mashamati (of) the left
مَآ mā what
أَصْحَـٰبُ aṣḥābu (are the) companions
ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ l-mashamati (of) the left

Verse 10 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 2 words

وَٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ ٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ

And the forerunners, the forerunners -

وَٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ wal-sābiqūna And the foremost
ٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ l-sābiqūna (are) the foremost

Verse 11 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 2 words

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ

Those are the ones brought near [to Allah]

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ulāika Those
ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ l-muqarabūna (are) the nearest ones

Verse 12 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 3 words

فِى جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ

In the Gardens of Pleasure,

فِى fī In
جَنَّـٰتِ jannāti Gardens
ٱلنَّعِيمِ l-naʿīmi (of) Pleasure

Verse 13 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 3 words

ثُلَّةٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

A [large] company of the former peoples

ثُلَّةٌۭ thullatun A company
مِّنَ mina of
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ l-awalīna the former (people)

Verse 14 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 3 words

وَقَلِيلٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ

And a few of the later peoples,

وَقَلِيلٌۭ waqalīlun And a few
مِّنَ mina of
ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ l-ākhirīna the later (people)

Verse 15 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 3 words

عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍۢ مَّوْضُونَةٍۢ

On thrones woven [with ornament],

عَلَىٰ ʿalā On
سُرُرٍۢ sururin thrones
مَّوْضُونَةٍۢ mawḍūnatin decorated

Verse 16 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 3 words

مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَيْهَا مُتَقَـٰبِلِينَ

Reclining on them, facing each other.

مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ muttakiīna Reclining
عَلَيْهَا ʿalayhā on them
مُتَقَـٰبِلِينَ mutaqābilīna facing each other

Verse 17 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 4 words

يَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَٰنٌۭ مُّخَلَّدُونَ

There will circulate among them young boys made eternal

يَطُوفُ yaṭūfu Will circulate
عَلَيْهِمْ ʿalayhim among them
وِلْدَٰنٌۭ wil'dānun boys
مُّخَلَّدُونَ mukhalladūna immortal

Verse 18 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 5 words

بِأَكْوَابٍۢ وَأَبَارِيقَ وَكَأْسٍۢ مِّن مَّعِينٍۢ

With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring -

بِأَكْوَابٍۢ bi-akwābin With vessels
وَأَبَارِيقَ wa-abārīqa and jugs
وَكَأْسٍۢ wakasin and a cup
مِّن min from
مَّعِينٍۢ maʿīnin a flowing stream

Verse 19 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 5 words

لَّا يُصَدَّعُونَ عَنْهَا وَلَا يُنزِفُونَ

No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated -

لَّا lā Not
يُصَدَّعُونَ yuṣaddaʿūna they will get headache
عَنْهَا ʿanhā therefrom
وَلَا walā and not
يُنزِفُونَ yunzifūna they will get intoxicated

Verse 20 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 3 words

وَفَـٰكِهَةٍۢ مِّمَّا يَتَخَيَّرُونَ

And fruit of what they select

وَفَـٰكِهَةٍۢ wafākihatin And fruits
مِّمَّا mimmā of what
يَتَخَيَّرُونَ yatakhayyarūna they select

Verse 21 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 4 words

وَلَحْمِ طَيْرٍۢ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ

And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire.

وَلَحْمِ walaḥmi And (the) flesh
طَيْرٍۢ ṭayrin (of) fowls
مِّمَّا mimmā of what
يَشْتَهُونَ yashtahūna they desire

Verse 22 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 2 words

وَحُورٌ عِينٌۭ

And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes,

وَحُورٌ waḥūrun And fair ones
عِينٌۭ ʿīnun (with) large eyes

Verse 23 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 3 words

كَأَمْثَـٰلِ ٱللُّؤْلُؤِ ٱلْمَكْنُونِ

The likenesses of pearls well-protected,

كَأَمْثَـٰلِ ka-amthāli Like
ٱللُّؤْلُؤِ l-lu'lu-i pearls
ٱلْمَكْنُونِ l-maknūni well-protected

Verse 24 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 4 words

جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ

As reward for what they used to do.

جَزَآءًۢ jazāan A reward
بِمَا bimā for what
كَانُوا۟ kānū they used (to)
يَعْمَلُونَ yaʿmalūna do

Verse 25 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 6 words

لَا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًۭا وَلَا تَأْثِيمًا

They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin -

لَا lā Not
يَسْمَعُونَ yasmaʿūna they will hear
فِيهَا fīhā therein
لَغْوًۭا laghwan vain talk
وَلَا walā and not
تَأْثِيمًا tathīman sinful (speech)

Verse 26 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 4 words

إِلَّا قِيلًۭا سَلَـٰمًۭا سَلَـٰمًۭا

Only a saying: "Peace, peace."

إِلَّا illā Except
قِيلًۭا qīlan a saying
سَلَـٰمًۭا salāman Peace
سَلَـٰمًۭا salāman Peace

Verse 27 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 5 words

وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْيَمِينِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْيَمِينِ

The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right?

وَأَصْحَـٰبُ wa-aṣḥābu And (the) companions
ٱلْيَمِينِ l-yamīni (of) the right
مَآ mā what
أَصْحَـٰبُ aṣḥābu (are the) companions
ٱلْيَمِينِ l-yamīni (of) the right

Verse 28 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 3 words

فِى سِدْرٍۢ مَّخْضُودٍۢ

[They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed

فِى fī Among
سِدْرٍۢ sid'rin lote trees
مَّخْضُودٍۢ makhḍūdin thornless

Verse 29 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 2 words

وَطَلْحٍۢ مَّنضُودٍۢ

And [banana] trees layered [with fruit]

وَطَلْحٍۢ waṭalḥin And banana trees
مَّنضُودٍۢ manḍūdin layered

Verse 30 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 2 words

وَظِلٍّۢ مَّمْدُودٍۢ

And shade extended

وَظِلٍّۢ waẓillin And shade
مَّمْدُودٍۢ mamdūdin extended

Verse 31 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 2 words

وَمَآءٍۢ مَّسْكُوبٍۢ

And water poured out

وَمَآءٍۢ wamāin And water
مَّسْكُوبٍۢ maskūbin poured forth

Verse 32 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 2 words

وَفَـٰكِهَةٍۢ كَثِيرَةٍۢ

And fruit, abundant [and varied],

وَفَـٰكِهَةٍۢ wafākihatin And fruit
كَثِيرَةٍۢ kathīratin abundant

Verse 33 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 4 words

لَّا مَقْطُوعَةٍۢ وَلَا مَمْنُوعَةٍۢ

Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden,

لَّا lā Not
مَقْطُوعَةٍۢ maqṭūʿatin limited
وَلَا walā and not
مَمْنُوعَةٍۢ mamnūʿatin forbidden

Verse 34 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 2 words

وَفُرُشٍۢ مَّرْفُوعَةٍ

And [upon] beds raised high.

وَفُرُشٍۢ wafurushin And (on) couches
مَّرْفُوعَةٍ marfūʿatin raised

Verse 35 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 3 words

إِنَّآ أَنشَأْنَـٰهُنَّ إِنشَآءًۭ

Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation

إِنَّآ innā Indeed, We
أَنشَأْنَـٰهُنَّ anshanāhunna [We] have produced them
إِنشَآءًۭ inshāan (into) a creation

Verse 36 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 2 words

فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُنَّ أَبْكَارًا

And made them virgins,

فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُنَّ fajaʿalnāhunna And We have made them
أَبْكَارًا abkāran virgins

Verse 37 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 2 words

عُرُبًا أَتْرَابًۭا

Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age,

عُرُبًا ʿuruban Devoted
أَتْرَابًۭا atrāban equals in age

Verse 38 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 2 words

لِّأَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ

For the companions of the right [who are]

لِّأَصْحَـٰبِ li-aṣḥābi For (the) companions
ٱلْيَمِينِ l-yamīni (of) the right

Verse 39 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 3 words

ثُلَّةٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

A company of the former peoples

ثُلَّةٌۭ thullatun A company
مِّنَ mina of
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ l-awalīna the former people

Verse 40 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 3 words

وَثُلَّةٌۭ مِّنَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ

And a company of the later peoples.

وَثُلَّةٌۭ wathullatun And a company
مِّنَ mina of
ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ l-ākhirīna the later people

Verse 41 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 5 words

وَأَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ مَآ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلشِّمَالِ

And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left?

وَأَصْحَـٰبُ wa-aṣḥābu And (the) companions
ٱلشِّمَالِ l-shimāli (of) the left
مَآ mā what
أَصْحَـٰبُ aṣḥābu (are the) companions
ٱلشِّمَالِ l-shimāli (of) the left

Verse 42 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 3 words

فِى سَمُومٍۢ وَحَمِيمٍۢ

[They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water

فِى fī In
سَمُومٍۢ samūmin scorching fire
وَحَمِيمٍۢ waḥamīmin and scalding water

Verse 43 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 3 words

وَظِلٍّۢ مِّن يَحْمُومٍۢ

And a shade of black smoke,

وَظِلٍّۢ waẓillin And a shade
مِّن min of
يَحْمُومٍۢ yaḥmūmin black smoke

Verse 44 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 4 words

لَّا بَارِدٍۢ وَلَا كَرِيمٍ

Neither cool nor beneficial.

لَّا lā Not
بَارِدٍۢ bāridin cool
وَلَا walā and not
كَرِيمٍ karīmin pleasant

Verse 45 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 5 words

إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ قَبْلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُتْرَفِينَ

Indeed they were, before that, indulging in affluence,

إِنَّهُمْ innahum Indeed, they
كَانُوا۟ kānū were
قَبْلَ qabla before
ذَٰلِكَ dhālika that
مُتْرَفِينَ mut'rafīna indulging in affluence

Verse 46 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 5 words

وَكَانُوا۟ يُصِرُّونَ عَلَى ٱلْحِنثِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ

And they used to persist in the great violation,

وَكَانُوا۟ wakānū And were
يُصِرُّونَ yuṣirrūna persisting
عَلَى ʿalā in
ٱلْحِنثِ l-ḥinthi the sin
ٱلْعَظِيمِ l-ʿaẓīmi the great

Verse 47 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 9 words

وَكَانُوا۟ يَقُولُونَ أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًۭا وَعِظَـٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ

And they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?

وَكَانُوا۟ wakānū And they used (to)
يَقُولُونَ yaqūlūna say
أَئِذَا a-idhā When
مِتْنَا mit'nā we die
وَكُنَّا wakunnā and become
تُرَابًۭا turāban dust
وَعِظَـٰمًا waʿiẓāman and bones
أَءِنَّا a-innā will we
لَمَبْعُوثُونَ lamabʿūthūna surely be resurrected

Verse 48 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 2 words

أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ

And our forefathers [as well]?"

أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا awaābāunā And also our fathers
ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ l-awalūna former

Verse 49 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 4 words

قُلْ إِنَّ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ وَٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ

Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, the former and the later peoples

قُلْ qul Say
إِنَّ inna Indeed
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ l-awalīna the former
وَٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ wal-ākhirīna and the later people

Verse 50 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 5 words

لَمَجْمُوعُونَ إِلَىٰ مِيقَـٰتِ يَوْمٍۢ مَّعْلُومٍۢ

Are to be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day."

لَمَجْمُوعُونَ lamajmūʿūna Surely, will be gathered
إِلَىٰ ilā for
مِيقَـٰتِ mīqāti (the) appointment
يَوْمٍۢ yawmin (of) a Day
مَّعْلُومٍۢ maʿlūmin well-known

Verse 51 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 5 words

ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلضَّآلُّونَ ٱلْمُكَذِّبُونَ

Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers,

ثُمَّ thumma Then
إِنَّكُمْ innakum indeed you
أَيُّهَا ayyuhā O those astray
ٱلضَّآلُّونَ l-ḍālūna O those astray
ٱلْمُكَذِّبُونَ l-mukadhibūna the deniers

Verse 52 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 5 words

لَـَٔاكِلُونَ مِن شَجَرٍۢ مِّن زَقُّومٍۢ

Will be eating from trees of zaqqum

لَـَٔاكِلُونَ laākilūna Will surely eat
مِن min from
شَجَرٍۢ shajarin (the) tree
مِّن min of
زَقُّومٍۢ zaqqūmin Zaqqum

Verse 53 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 3 words

فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا ٱلْبُطُونَ

And filling with it your bellies

فَمَالِـُٔونَ famāliūna Then will fill
مِنْهَا min'hā with it
ٱلْبُطُونَ l-buṭūna the bellies

Verse 54 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 4 words

فَشَـٰرِبُونَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلْحَمِيمِ

And drinking on top of it from scalding water

فَشَـٰرِبُونَ fashāribūna And drink
عَلَيْهِ ʿalayhi over it
مِنَ mina [from]
ٱلْحَمِيمِ l-ḥamīmi the scalding water

Verse 55 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 3 words

فَشَـٰرِبُونَ شُرْبَ ٱلْهِيمِ

And will drink as the drinking of thirsty camels.

فَشَـٰرِبُونَ fashāribūna And will drink
شُرْبَ shur'ba (as) drinking
ٱلْهِيمِ l-hīmi (of) the thirsty camels

Verse 56 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 4 words

هَـٰذَا نُزُلُهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ

That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense.

هَـٰذَا hādhā This
نُزُلُهُمْ nuzuluhum (is) their hospitality
يَوْمَ yawma (on the) Day
ٱلدِّينِ l-dīni (of) Judgment

Verse 57 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 4 words

نَحْنُ خَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ فَلَوْلَا تُصَدِّقُونَ

We have created you, so why do you not believe?

نَحْنُ naḥnu We
خَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ khalaqnākum [We] created you
فَلَوْلَا falawlā so why (do) not
تُصَدِّقُونَ tuṣaddiqūna you admit the truth

Verse 58 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 3 words

أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تُمْنُونَ

Have you seen that which you emit?

أَفَرَءَيْتُم afara-aytum Do you see
مَّا mā what
تُمْنُونَ tum'nūna you emit

Verse 59 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 5 words

ءَأَنتُمْ تَخْلُقُونَهُۥٓ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْخَـٰلِقُونَ

Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator?

ءَأَنتُمْ a-antum Is it you
تَخْلُقُونَهُۥٓ takhluqūnahu who create it
أَمْ am or
نَحْنُ naḥnu (are) We
ٱلْخَـٰلِقُونَ l-khāliqūna the Creators

Verse 60 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 7 words

نَحْنُ قَدَّرْنَا بَيْنَكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتَ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ

We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone

نَحْنُ naḥnu We
قَدَّرْنَا qaddarnā [We] have decreed
بَيْنَكُمُ baynakumu among you
ٱلْمَوْتَ l-mawta the death
وَمَا wamā and not
نَحْنُ naḥnu We
بِمَسْبُوقِينَ bimasbūqīna (are) outrun

Verse 61 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 9 words

عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ أَمْثَـٰلَكُمْ وَنُنشِئَكُمْ فِى مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ

In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know.

عَلَىٰٓ ʿalā In
أَن an that
نُّبَدِّلَ nubaddila We (will) change
أَمْثَـٰلَكُمْ amthālakum your likeness[es]
وَنُنشِئَكُمْ wanunshi-akum and produce you
فِى fī in
مَا mā what
لَا lā not
تَعْلَمُونَ taʿlamūna you know

Verse 62 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 6 words

وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمُ ٱلنَّشْأَةَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ فَلَوْلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ

And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember?

وَلَقَدْ walaqad And certainly
عَلِمْتُمُ ʿalim'tumu you know
ٱلنَّشْأَةَ l-nashata the creation
ٱلْأُولَىٰ l-ūlā the first
فَلَوْلَا falawlā so why not
تَذَكَّرُونَ tadhakkarūna you take heed

Verse 63 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 3 words

أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا تَحْرُثُونَ

And have you seen that [seed] which you sow?

أَفَرَءَيْتُم afara-aytum And do you see
مَّا mā what
تَحْرُثُونَ taḥruthūna you sow

Verse 64 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 5 words

ءَأَنتُمْ تَزْرَعُونَهُۥٓ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلزَّٰرِعُونَ

Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower?

ءَأَنتُمْ a-antum Is it you (who)
تَزْرَعُونَهُۥٓ tazraʿūnahu cause it to grow
أَمْ am or
نَحْنُ naḥnu (are) We
ٱلزَّٰرِعُونَ l-zāriʿūna the Ones Who grow

Verse 65 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 6 words

لَوْ نَشَآءُ لَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ حُطَـٰمًۭا فَظَلْتُمْ تَفَكَّهُونَ

If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder,

لَوْ law If
نَشَآءُ nashāu We willed
لَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ lajaʿalnāhu We (would) surely, make it
حُطَـٰمًۭا ḥuṭāman debris
فَظَلْتُمْ faẓaltum then you would remain
تَفَكَّهُونَ tafakkahūna wondering

Verse 66 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 2 words

إِنَّا لَمُغْرَمُونَ

[Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt;

إِنَّا innā Indeed, we
لَمُغْرَمُونَ lamugh'ramūna surely are laden with debt

Verse 67 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 3 words

بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ

Rather, we have been deprived."

بَلْ bal Nay
نَحْنُ naḥnu we
مَحْرُومُونَ maḥrūmūna (are) deprived

Verse 68 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 4 words

أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱلْمَآءَ ٱلَّذِى تَشْرَبُونَ

And have you seen the water that you drink?

أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ afara-aytumu Do you see
ٱلْمَآءَ l-māa the water
ٱلَّذِى alladhī which
تَشْرَبُونَ tashrabūna you drink

Verse 69 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 7 words

ءَأَنتُمْ أَنزَلْتُمُوهُ مِنَ ٱلْمُزْنِ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْمُنزِلُونَ

Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down?

ءَأَنتُمْ a-antum Is it you
أَنزَلْتُمُوهُ anzaltumūhu who send it down
مِنَ mina from
ٱلْمُزْنِ l-muz'ni the rain clouds
أَمْ am or
نَحْنُ naḥnu We
ٱلْمُنزِلُونَ l-munzilūna (are) the Ones to send

Verse 70 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 6 words

لَوْ نَشَآءُ جَعَلْنَـٰهُ أُجَاجًۭا فَلَوْلَا تَشْكُرُونَ

If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful?

لَوْ law If
نَشَآءُ nashāu We willed
جَعَلْنَـٰهُ jaʿalnāhu We (could) make it
أُجَاجًۭا ujājan salty
فَلَوْلَا falawlā then why are you not grateful
تَشْكُرُونَ tashkurūna then why are you not grateful

Verse 71 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 4 words

أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ ٱلنَّارَ ٱلَّتِى تُورُونَ

And have you seen the fire that you ignite?

أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ afara-aytumu Do you see
ٱلنَّارَ l-nāra the Fire
ٱلَّتِى allatī which
تُورُونَ tūrūna you ignite

Verse 72 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 6 words

ءَأَنتُمْ أَنشَأْتُمْ شَجَرَتَهَآ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْمُنشِـُٔونَ

Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer?

ءَأَنتُمْ a-antum Is it you
أَنشَأْتُمْ anshatum who produced
شَجَرَتَهَآ shajaratahā its tree
أَمْ am or
نَحْنُ naḥnu We
ٱلْمُنشِـُٔونَ l-munshiūna (are) the Producers

Verse 73 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 5 words

نَحْنُ جَعَلْنَـٰهَا تَذْكِرَةًۭ وَمَتَـٰعًۭا لِّلْمُقْوِينَ

We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers,

نَحْنُ naḥnu We
جَعَلْنَـٰهَا jaʿalnāhā have made it
تَذْكِرَةًۭ tadhkiratan a reminder
وَمَتَـٰعًۭا wamatāʿan and a provision
لِّلْمُقْوِينَ lil'muq'wīna for the wayfarers in the desert

Verse 74 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 4 words

فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ

So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.

فَسَبِّحْ fasabbiḥ So glorify
بِٱسْمِ bi-is'mi (the) name
رَبِّكَ rabbika (of) your Lord
ٱلْعَظِيمِ l-ʿaẓīmi the Most Great

Verse 75 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 4 words

۞ فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَوَٰقِعِ ٱلنُّجُومِ

Then I swear by the setting of the stars,

۞ فَلَآ falā But nay
أُقْسِمُ uq'simu I swear
بِمَوَٰقِعِ bimawāqiʿi by setting
ٱلنُّجُومِ l-nujūmi (of) the stars

Verse 76 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 5 words

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَقَسَمٌۭ لَّوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عَظِيمٌ

And indeed, it is an oath - if you could know - [most] great.

وَإِنَّهُۥ wa-innahu And indeed, it
لَقَسَمٌۭ laqasamun (is) surely an oath
لَّوْ law if
تَعْلَمُونَ taʿlamūna you know
عَظِيمٌ ʿaẓīmun great

Verse 77 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 3 words

إِنَّهُۥ لَقُرْءَانٌۭ كَرِيمٌۭ

Indeed, it is a noble Qur'an

إِنَّهُۥ innahu Indeed, it
لَقُرْءَانٌۭ laqur'ānun (is) surely, a Quran
كَرِيمٌۭ karīmun noble

Verse 78 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 3 words

فِى كِتَـٰبٍۢ مَّكْنُونٍۢ

In a Register well-protected;

فِى fī In
كِتَـٰبٍۢ kitābin a Book
مَّكْنُونٍۢ maknūnin well-guarded

Verse 79 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 4 words

لَّا يَمَسُّهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْمُطَهَّرُونَ

None touch it except the purified.

لَّا lā None
يَمَسُّهُۥٓ yamassuhu touch it
إِلَّا illā except
ٱلْمُطَهَّرُونَ l-muṭaharūna the purified

Verse 80 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 4 words

تَنزِيلٌۭ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

[It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.

تَنزِيلٌۭ tanzīlun A Revelation
مِّن min from
رَّبِّ rabbi (the) Lord
ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ l-ʿālamīna (of) the worlds

Verse 81 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 4 words

أَفَبِهَـٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ أَنتُم مُّدْهِنُونَ

Then is it to this statement that you are indifferent

أَفَبِهَـٰذَا afabihādhā Then is it to this
ٱلْحَدِيثِ l-ḥadīthi statement
أَنتُم antum that you
مُّدْهِنُونَ mud'hinūna (are) indifferent

Verse 82 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 4 words

وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ تُكَذِّبُونَ

And make [the thanks for] your provision that you deny [the Provider]?

وَتَجْعَلُونَ watajʿalūna And you make
رِزْقَكُمْ riz'qakum your provision
أَنَّكُمْ annakum that you
تُكَذِّبُونَ tukadhibūna deny

Verse 83 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 4 words

فَلَوْلَآ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلْحُلْقُومَ

Then why, when the soul at death reaches the throat

فَلَوْلَآ falawlā Then why not
إِذَا idhā when
بَلَغَتِ balaghati it reaches
ٱلْحُلْقُومَ l-ḥul'qūma the throat

Verse 84 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 3 words

وَأَنتُمْ حِينَئِذٍۢ تَنظُرُونَ

And you are at that time looking on -

وَأَنتُمْ wa-antum And you
حِينَئِذٍۢ ḥīna-idhin (at) that time
تَنظُرُونَ tanẓurūna look on

Verse 85 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 7 words

وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنكُمْ وَلَـٰكِن لَّا تُبْصِرُونَ

And Our angels are nearer to him than you, but you do not see -

وَنَحْنُ wanaḥnu And We
أَقْرَبُ aqrabu (are) nearer
إِلَيْهِ ilayhi to him
مِنكُمْ minkum than you
وَلَـٰكِن walākin but
لَّا lā you (do) not see
تُبْصِرُونَ tub'ṣirūna you (do) not see

Verse 86 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 5 words

فَلَوْلَآ إِن كُنتُمْ غَيْرَ مَدِينِينَ

Then why do you not, if you are not to be recompensed,

فَلَوْلَآ falawlā Then why not
إِن in if
كُنتُمْ kuntum you are
غَيْرَ ghayra not
مَدِينِينَ madīnīna to be recompensed

Verse 87 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 4 words

تَرْجِعُونَهَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ

Bring it back, if you should be truthful?

تَرْجِعُونَهَآ tarjiʿūnahā Bring it back
إِن in if
كُنتُمْ kuntum you are
صَـٰدِقِينَ ṣādiqīna truthful

Verse 88 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 5 words

فَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ

And if the deceased was of those brought near to Allah,

فَأَمَّآ fa-ammā Then
إِن in if
كَانَ kāna he was
مِنَ mina of
ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ l-muqarabīna those brought near

Verse 89 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 4 words

فَرَوْحٌۭ وَرَيْحَانٌۭ وَجَنَّتُ نَعِيمٍۢ

Then [for him is] rest and bounty and a garden of pleasure.

فَرَوْحٌۭ farawḥun Then rest
وَرَيْحَانٌۭ warayḥānun and bounty
وَجَنَّتُ wajannatu and a Garden
نَعِيمٍۢ naʿīmin (of) Pleasure

Verse 90 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 6 words

وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ

And if he was of the companions of the right,

وَأَمَّآ wa-ammā And
إِن in if
كَانَ kāna he was
مِنْ min of
أَصْحَـٰبِ aṣḥābi (the) companions
ٱلْيَمِينِ l-yamīni (of) the right

Verse 91 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 5 words

فَسَلَـٰمٌۭ لَّكَ مِنْ أَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلْيَمِينِ

Then [the angels will say], "Peace for you; [you are] from the companions of the right."

فَسَلَـٰمٌۭ fasalāmun Then, peace
لَّكَ laka for you
مِنْ min [from]
أَصْحَـٰبِ aṣḥābi (the) companions
ٱلْيَمِينِ l-yamīni (of) the right

Verse 92 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 6 words

وَأَمَّآ إِن كَانَ مِنَ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ

But if he was of the deniers [who were] astray,

وَأَمَّآ wa-ammā But
إِن in if
كَانَ kāna he was
مِنَ mina of
ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ l-mukadhibīna the deniers
ٱلضَّآلِّينَ l-ḍālīna the astray

Verse 93 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 3 words

فَنُزُلٌۭ مِّنْ حَمِيمٍۢ

Then [for him is] accommodation of scalding water

فَنُزُلٌۭ fanuzulun Then, hospitality
مِّنْ min of
حَمِيمٍۢ ḥamīmin (the) scalding water

Verse 94 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 2 words

وَتَصْلِيَةُ جَحِيمٍ

And burning in Hellfire

وَتَصْلِيَةُ wataṣliyatu And burning
جَحِيمٍ jaḥīmin (in) Hellfire

Verse 95 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 5 words

إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ

Indeed, this is the true certainty,

إِنَّ inna Indeed
هَـٰذَا hādhā this
لَهُوَ lahuwa surely, it
حَقُّ ḥaqqu (is the) truth
ٱلْيَقِينِ l-yaqīni certain

Verse 96 - Surah Al-Waaqia: 4 words

فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ

So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.

فَسَبِّحْ fasabbiḥ So glorify
بِٱسْمِ bi-is'mi (the) name
رَبِّكَ rabbika (of) your Lord
ٱلْعَظِيمِ l-ʿaẓīmi the Most Great

God and His angels shower their blessings on the Prophet. O believers, you should also send your blessings on him, and salute him with a worthy greeting.
