بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Verse 1 - Surah An-Naba: 2 words

عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ

About what are they asking one another?

عَمَّ ʿamma About what
يَتَسَآءَلُونَ yatasāalūna are they asking one another

Verse 2 - Surah An-Naba: 3 words

عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ

About the great news -

عَنِ ʿani About
ٱلنَّبَإِ l-naba-i the News
ٱلْعَظِيمِ l-ʿaẓīmi the Great

Verse 3 - Surah An-Naba: 4 words

ٱلَّذِى هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ

That over which they are in disagreement.

ٱلَّذِى alladhī (About) which
هُمْ hum they
فِيهِ fīhi (are) concerning it
مُخْتَلِفُونَ mukh'talifūna (in) disagreement

Verse 4 - Surah An-Naba: 2 words

كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ

No! They are going to know.

كَلَّا kallā Nay
سَيَعْلَمُونَ sayaʿlamūna (soon) they will know

Verse 5 - Surah An-Naba: 3 words

ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ

Then, no! They are going to know.

ثُمَّ thumma Then
كَلَّا kallā Nay
سَيَعْلَمُونَ sayaʿlamūna (soon) they will know

Verse 6 - Surah An-Naba: 4 words

أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ مِهَـٰدًۭا

Have We not made the earth a resting place?

أَلَمْ alam Have not
نَجْعَلِ najʿali We made
ٱلْأَرْضَ l-arḍa the earth
مِهَـٰدًۭا mihādan a resting place

Verse 7 - Surah An-Naba: 2 words

وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًۭا

And the mountains as stakes?

وَٱلْجِبَالَ wal-jibāla And the mountains
أَوْتَادًۭا awtādan (as) pegs

Verse 8 - Surah An-Naba: 2 words

وَخَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ أَزْوَٰجًۭا

And We created you in pairs

وَخَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ wakhalaqnākum And We created you
أَزْوَٰجًۭا azwājan (in) pairs

Verse 9 - Surah An-Naba: 3 words

وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًۭا

And made your sleep [a means for] rest

وَجَعَلْنَا wajaʿalnā And We made
نَوْمَكُمْ nawmakum your sleep
سُبَاتًۭا subātan (for) rest

Verse 10 - Surah An-Naba: 3 words

وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلَّيْلَ لِبَاسًۭا

And made the night as clothing

وَجَعَلْنَا wajaʿalnā And We made
ٱلَّيْلَ al-layla the night
لِبَاسًۭا libāsan (as) covering

Verse 11 - Surah An-Naba: 3 words

وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشًۭا

And made the day for livelihood

وَجَعَلْنَا wajaʿalnā And We made
ٱلنَّهَارَ l-nahāra the day
مَعَاشًۭا maʿāshan (for) livelihood

Verse 12 - Surah An-Naba: 4 words

وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًۭا شِدَادًۭا

And constructed above you seven strong [heavens]

وَبَنَيْنَا wabanaynā And We constructed
فَوْقَكُمْ fawqakum over you
سَبْعًۭا sabʿan seven
شِدَادًۭا shidādan strong

Verse 13 - Surah An-Naba: 3 words

وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًۭا وَهَّاجًۭا

And made [therein] a burning lamp

وَجَعَلْنَا wajaʿalnā And We placed
سِرَاجًۭا sirājan a lamp
وَهَّاجًۭا wahhājan burning

Verse 14 - Surah An-Naba: 5 words

وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلْمُعْصِرَٰتِ مَآءًۭ ثَجَّاجًۭا

And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water

وَأَنزَلْنَا wa-anzalnā And We sent down
مِنَ mina from
ٱلْمُعْصِرَٰتِ l-muʿ'ṣirāti the rain clouds
مَآءًۭ māan water
ثَجَّاجًۭا thajjājan pouring abundantly

Verse 15 - Surah An-Naba: 4 words

لِّنُخْرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبًّۭا وَنَبَاتًۭا

That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation

لِّنُخْرِجَ linukh'rija That We may bring forth
بِهِۦ bihi thereby
حَبًّۭا ḥabban grain
وَنَبَاتًۭا wanabātan and vegetation

Verse 16 - Surah An-Naba: 2 words

وَجَنَّـٰتٍ أَلْفَافًا

And gardens of entwined growth.

وَجَنَّـٰتٍ wajannātin And gardens
أَلْفَافًا alfāfan (of) thick foliage

Verse 17 - Surah An-Naba: 5 words

إِنَّ يَوْمَ ٱلْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَـٰتًۭا

Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time -

إِنَّ inna Indeed
يَوْمَ yawma (the) Day
ٱلْفَصْلِ l-faṣli (of) the Judgment
كَانَ kāna is
مِيقَـٰتًۭا mīqātan an appointed time

Verse 18 - Surah An-Naba: 6 words

يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِى ٱلصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًۭا

The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes

يَوْمَ yawma (The) Day
يُنفَخُ yunfakhu (in which) shall be blown
فِى fī in
ٱلصُّورِ l-ṣūri the trumpet
فَتَأْتُونَ fatatūna and you will come forth
أَفْوَاجًۭا afwājan (in) crowds

Verse 19 - Surah An-Naba: 4 words

وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَٰبًۭا

And the heaven is opened and will become gateways

وَفُتِحَتِ wafutiḥati And is opened
ٱلسَّمَآءُ l-samāu the heaven
فَكَانَتْ fakānat and becomes
أَبْوَٰبًۭا abwāban gateways

Verse 20 - Surah An-Naba: 4 words

وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا

And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage.

وَسُيِّرَتِ wasuyyirati And are moved
ٱلْجِبَالُ l-jibālu the mountains
فَكَانَتْ fakānat and become
سَرَابًا sarāban a mirage

Verse 21 - Surah An-Naba: 4 words

إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًۭا

Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait

إِنَّ inna Indeed
جَهَنَّمَ jahannama Hell
كَانَتْ kānat is
مِرْصَادًۭا mir'ṣādan lying in wait

Verse 22 - Surah An-Naba: 2 words

لِّلطَّـٰغِينَ مَـَٔابًۭا

For the transgressors, a place of return,

لِّلطَّـٰغِينَ lilṭṭāghīna For the transgressors
مَـَٔابًۭا maāban a place of return

Verse 23 - Surah An-Naba: 3 words

لَّـٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحْقَابًۭا

In which they will remain for ages [unending].

لَّـٰبِثِينَ lābithīna (They will) be remaining
فِيهَآ fīhā therein
أَحْقَابًۭا aḥqāban (for) ages

Verse 24 - Surah An-Naba: 6 words

لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًۭا وَلَا شَرَابًا

They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink

لَّا lā Not
يَذُوقُونَ yadhūqūna they will taste
فِيهَا fīhā therein
بَرْدًۭا bardan coolness
وَلَا walā and not
شَرَابًا sharāban any drink

Verse 25 - Surah An-Naba: 3 words

إِلَّا حَمِيمًۭا وَغَسَّاقًۭا

Except scalding water and [foul] purulence -

إِلَّا illā Except
حَمِيمًۭا ḥamīman scalding water
وَغَسَّاقًۭا waghassāqan and purulence

Verse 26 - Surah An-Naba: 2 words

جَزَآءًۭ وِفَاقًا

An appropriate recompense.

جَزَآءًۭ jazāan A recompense
وِفَاقًا wifāqan appropriate

Verse 27 - Surah An-Naba: 5 words

إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًۭا

Indeed, they were not expecting an account

إِنَّهُمْ innahum Indeed, they
كَانُوا۟ kānū were
لَا lā not
يَرْجُونَ yarjūna expecting
حِسَابًۭا ḥisāban an account

Verse 28 - Surah An-Naba: 3 words

وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا كِذَّابًۭا

And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial.

وَكَذَّبُوا۟ wakadhabū And they denied
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا biāyātinā Our Signs
كِذَّابًۭا kidhāban (with) denial

Verse 29 - Surah An-Naba: 4 words

وَكُلَّ شَىْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَـٰهُ كِتَـٰبًۭا

But all things We have enumerated in writing.

وَكُلَّ wakulla And every
شَىْءٍ shayin thing
أَحْصَيْنَـٰهُ aḥṣaynāhu We have enumerated it
كِتَـٰبًۭا kitāban (in) a Book

Verse 30 - Surah An-Naba: 5 words

فَذُوقُوا۟ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًا

"So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment."

فَذُوقُوا۟ fadhūqū So taste
فَلَن falan and never
نَّزِيدَكُمْ nazīdakum We will increase you
إِلَّا illā except
عَذَابًا ʿadhāban (in) punishment

Verse 31 - Surah An-Naba: 3 words

إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا

Indeed, for the righteous is attainment -

إِنَّ inna Indeed
لِلْمُتَّقِينَ lil'muttaqīna for the righteous
مَفَازًا mafāzan (is) success

Verse 32 - Surah An-Naba: 2 words

حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعْنَـٰبًۭا

Gardens and grapevines

حَدَآئِقَ ḥadāiqa Gardens
وَأَعْنَـٰبًۭا wa-aʿnāban and grapevines

Verse 33 - Surah An-Naba: 2 words

وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًۭا

And full-breasted [companions] of equal age

وَكَوَاعِبَ wakawāʿiba And splendid companions
أَتْرَابًۭا atrāban well-matched

Verse 34 - Surah An-Naba: 2 words

وَكَأْسًۭا دِهَاقًۭا

And a full cup.

وَكَأْسًۭا wakasan And a cup
دِهَاقًۭا dihāqan full

Verse 35 - Surah An-Naba: 6 words

لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًۭا وَلَا كِذَّٰبًۭا

No ill speech will they hear therein or any falsehood -

لَّا lā Not
يَسْمَعُونَ yasmaʿūna they will hear
فِيهَا fīhā therein
لَغْوًۭا laghwan any vain talk
وَلَا walā and not
كِذَّٰبًۭا kidhāban any falsehood

Verse 36 - Surah An-Naba: 5 words

جَزَآءًۭ مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابًۭا

[As] reward from your Lord, [a generous] gift [made due by] account,

جَزَآءًۭ jazāan (As) a reward
مِّن min from
رَّبِّكَ rabbika your Lord
عَطَآءً ʿaṭāan a gift
حِسَابًۭا ḥisāban (according to) account

Verse 37 - Surah An-Naba: 10 words

رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۖ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًۭا

[From] the Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, the Most Merciful. They possess not from Him [authority for] speech.

رَّبِّ rabbi Lord
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ l-samāwāti (of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ wal-arḍi and the earth
وَمَا wamā and whatever
بَيْنَهُمَا baynahumā (is) between both of them
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۖ l-raḥmāni the Most Gracious
لَا lā not
يَمْلِكُونَ yamlikūna they have power
مِنْهُ min'hu from Him
خِطَابًۭا khiṭāban (to) address

Verse 38 - Surah An-Naba: 14 words

يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ صَفًّۭا ۖ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًۭا

The Day that the Spirit and the angels will stand in rows, they will not speak except for one whom the Most Merciful permits, and he will say what is correct.

يَوْمَ yawma (The) Day
يَقُومُ yaqūmu will stand
ٱلرُّوحُ l-rūḥu the Spirit
وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ wal-malāikatu and the Angels
صَفًّۭا ۖ ṣaffan (in) rows
لَّا lā not
يَتَكَلَّمُونَ yatakallamūna they will speak
إِلَّا illā except
مَنْ man (one) who
أَذِنَ adhina permits
لَهُ lahu [for] him
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ l-raḥmānu the Most Gracious
وَقَالَ waqāla and he (will) say
صَوَابًۭا ṣawāban (what is) correct

Verse 39 - Surah An-Naba: 9 words

ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمُ ٱلْحَقُّ ۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ مَـَٔابًا

That is the True Day; so he who wills may take to his Lord a [way of] return.

ذَٰلِكَ dhālika That
ٱلْيَوْمُ l-yawmu (is) the Day
ٱلْحَقُّ ۖ l-ḥaqu the True
فَمَن faman So whoever
شَآءَ shāa wills
ٱتَّخَذَ ittakhadha let him take
إِلَىٰ ilā towards
رَبِّهِۦ rabbihi his Lord
مَـَٔابًا maāban a return

Verse 40 - Surah An-Naba: 15 words

إِنَّآ أَنذَرْنَـٰكُمْ عَذَابًۭا قَرِيبًۭا يَوْمَ يَنظُرُ ٱلْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلْكَافِرُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى كُنتُ تُرَٰبًۢا

Indeed, We have warned you of a near punishment on the Day when a man will observe what his hands have put forth and the disbeliever will say, "Oh, I wish that I were dust!"

إِنَّآ innā Indeed We
أَنذَرْنَـٰكُمْ andharnākum [We] have warned you
عَذَابًۭا ʿadhāban (of) a punishment
قَرِيبًۭا qarīban near
يَوْمَ yawma (the) Day
يَنظُرُ yanẓuru will see
ٱلْمَرْءُ l-maru the man
مَا mā what
قَدَّمَتْ qaddamat have sent forth
يَدَاهُ yadāhu his hands
وَيَقُولُ wayaqūlu and will say
ٱلْكَافِرُ l-kāfiru the disbeliever
يَـٰلَيْتَنِى yālaytanī O I wish
كُنتُ kuntu I were
تُرَٰبًۢا turāban dust

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ وَمَلَٰٓئِكَتَهُۥ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى ٱلنَّبِىِّ ۚ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ صَلُّوا۟ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا۟ تَسْلِيمًا

God and His angels shower their blessings on the Prophet. O believers, you should also send your blessings on him, and salute him with a worthy greeting.

Al-Ahzab 33:56
