📖 1 min readThe hamzas of the Noble Quran are only either a Hamzat al-Wasl or a Hamzat al-Qat'.
It is the one that is kept at the beginning and drops during recitation (daraj), that is, it is dropped in the state of wasl, the sound leaning then on what precedes and no longer needing the hamza.
It was called Hamzat al-Wasl because it is by means of it that one manages to pronounce the sakina letter at the beginning of the word; its pronunciation there being impossible, the original rule at the beginning being to pronounce with a vowel.
The Hamzat al-Wasl is found in verbs, nouns and particles, and it only appears with a vowel at the beginning of the word by which one begins.
