📖 4 min readThe recitation of the Noble Quran is among the noblest acts of worship and the greatest means of drawing near to Allah: the Most High commanded it in فَاقْرَأُوا مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ. The Prophet said: "Recite the Quran, for it will come on the Day of Resurrection as an intercessor for its companions" (reported from Abu Umamah), and: "Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah earns a good deed by it, and the good deed is rewarded ten times its worth" (reported from Ibn Mas'ud).
Verses: فَاقْرَأُوا مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ, and إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَتْلُونَ كِتَابَ اللَّهِ وَأَقَامُوا الصَّلاةَ... where Allah promises those who persevere in recitation a trade that will never perish. Hadiths: "Recite the Quran, for it will come on the Day of Resurrection as an intercessor for its companions"; "The one who recites the Quran with mastery is with the noble, honored and righteous scribes; and the one who recites the Quran with difficulty earns two rewards" (reported from 'Aisha).

This quality is fulfilled through mujawwad recitation, that is, recitation in accordance with the rules of tajweed, just as it was revealed to the Messenger of Allah. It can be taken neither from the mushaf nor from books: it is taken only through the oral transmission of qualified scholars, by listening to a reciter who has mastered tajweed or by reading before a shaykh of sound memorization and skilled performance.
