📖 1 min readWhen two causes of madd meet, one strong and the other weak, one acts according to the strong one and the weak is annulled. Example of that the statement of the Most High: وَجَاءُوا أَبَاهُمْ ¹.
The first hamzah is followed by a waw of madd, and this is considered as belonging to the madd badal. The second hamzah is preceded by a waw of madd, and this is considered as belonging to the madd munfasil. The madd munfasil being stronger than the madd badal, the madd is considered munfasil because it is the stronger, and the badal is annulled because it is the weaker.
To this refers the verifying scholar, shaykh Ibrahim Shahhata as-Samnudi, by his statement:
وسببًا مد إذا ما وجدا ... فإن أقوى السببين انفردا"Two causes of madd, when they are found together... then the stronger of the two causes acts alone"
