Definition Al-ʿṣaba

Al-ʿṣaba according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

That with which one binds; 'asaba ra'sa-hu wa 'asibu-hu ta'siban': he bound his head with binding; the name of that with which one binds is 'isaba; ta'assaba: to bind on the headband; the 'isaba thereof is the turban; turbans are called 'asa'ib. In the hadith related by Abu Dawud: 'He commanded them to wipe over the headbands and the caps (tasaqin).'
