Al-tkhlyl according to Mu'jam al-Mustalahat al-Fiqhiyya

It is extracting what is between the teeth of debris by means of the khilal, a stick or the like; and in the hadith: 'may God have mercy on those of my community who clean their teeth (mutakhallilin) in ablution and at the meal'.
