Definition Astrab

Astrab according to Al-Qamus al-Fiqhi

Istiraba regarding him: to see in him what arouses doubt. Ar-rayb: surmise, doubt, suspicion; hence the word of Allah, the Most High, describing the Noble Quran: 'This is the Book about which there is no doubt: a guidance for the God-fearing' (Al-Baqarah, 2); need; the vicissitudes of time (al-manun: the events of fate). Ar-raybah: surmise, doubt, accusation. In the Noble Book: 'The building which they built will never cease to be a source of doubt (ribah) in their hearts, until their hearts are cut asunder. And Allah is Knowing, Wise' (At-Tawbah, 110), that is: it attests their cunning and the weakness of conviction within them (plural: ruyub).
