Definition Ghafla

Ghafla according to An-Nihaya (Ibn al-Athir)

That is, they were heedless of guarding their station and of facing the enemy charged upon them.

Ghafla according to Dustur al-'Ulama (Al-Ahmadnagari)

Following the soul in what it craves. The knower at-Tastari said: distraction is wasting time in idleness. Said: distraction from a thing is its not coming to mind. The distraction meant in fiqh, chapter of interdiction: the harm in trading and contract other than resale at profit.
