Shd according to Al-Qamus al-Fiqhi

Shadda the thing, in shiddah: to strengthen and firm it; to transport it. Shadda someone: to assault him. Shadda the day: to rise. Shadda upon his heart: to seal it. In the Noble Quran: 'And Musa said: our Lord, You have given Pharaoh and his establishment adornment and wealth in the present life, our Lord, that they may lead astray from Your path. Our Lord, blot out their wealth and harden (ushdud) their hearts, that they not believe until they see the painful punishment' (Yunus, 88). Shadda upon his hand: to strengthen and support him. Shadda someone: to bind him fast. Shadda the knot: to tighten it and make it firm. Shadda for this matter his mu'zar (waist wrap): to gird himself for it and devote himself to it.
