Definition Sqaya alhaj

Sqaya alhaj according to Al-Qamus al-Fiqhi

The watering of the pilgrims (siqayah al-hajj): giving them to drink of water in which raisins had been steeped (nabidh); it was one of the glories of Quraysh. In the Noble Quran: 'Do you make the giving of drink to the pilgrims and the maintenance of the Sacred Mosque equal to one who believes in Allah and the Last Day and strives in the path of Allah? They are not equal before Allah, and Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people' (At-Tawbah, 19). As-siqy: the share of drink; one says: what is the share of water (siqy) of your land?; what is watered, land or crop; one says: a crop of irrigated land (siqy): watered otherwise than by rain.
