Definition Tadhn

Tadhn according to Al-Qamus al-Fiqhi

Someone: 'he ta'addhana (gave notice)': he made known; in the Qur'an: 'and when your Lord proclaimed (ta'addhana): if you are thankful I shall surely give you more; if you are ungrateful, My punishment is severe' (Ibrahim, 7), that is, He informed you. Abu 'Ubayda said of that verse: 'idh' is superfluous, and 'ta'addhana' is tafa''ala from adhana: he informed; this is the view of most philologists: ta'addhana is from al-i'dhan, which is informing; the meaning of tafa''ala is firm, resolved intent, and for this it is answered as an oath is answered. Abu 'Ali al-Farisi related that some Arabs use adhana and ta'addhana in one meaning.
