Definition Ttyr

Ttyr according to Al-Qamus al-Fiqhi

With the ba: to take a good omen; with the min: to take a bad omen. Originally the tafa'ul (good omen) by birds, then used for anything from which an omen, good or ill, is drawn. One says: atayyara (with qalb and assimilation), the root being tayyara. In the Quran: "When good befalls them they say: this is ours; and when ill strikes them they take an ill omen upon Moses and those with him: their omen is only with Allah, but most of them know not" (al-A'raf 7:131), that is, they take an ill omen upon them; and His saying: "their omen is only with Allah", that is, their misfortunes are from Allah.
