Main themes of the surah في سورة Al-Inshiqaq

When the embellishment was concluded with the friends being in bliss and the enemies in hellfire as a reward and punishment, it began with an oath regarding that, saying: {إذا السماء}, meaning due to its precision, grandeur, and wisdom, which none can match, glorifying His power. {انشقت} means it became frail and its gates were opened, causing it to be torn apart and destroyed. This occurs after the resurrection from the graves, as mentioned in Al-Haqqa according to one of the narrations of Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them. {وأذنت} means it was

And since this indicates forgiveness, it is followed by what indicates honor, so He said: {وينقلب}, meaning he returns to himself without any distress, with desire and acceptance, {إلى أهله}, meaning those whom Allah has made his family in Paradise, and thus he is more familiar with them and his abode.

By faith in the veracity of what is said, out of consideration for the one being addressed and compassion towards him. The omission of an oath, which is apparently evident, is more expressive than an oath itself, as it serves to alert the addressee to reflect and ponder. Thus, it is said: {فلا أقسم}, meaning, I do not swear a great oath by these matters that I will mention, despite their grandeur and the clear signs they entail, for the One being sworn upon is greater and more evident, and therefore, is in no need of an oath. {بالشفق} refers to the luminescence that occurs in the west after sunset, appearing in layers of red, then yellow, then a darkening to white, and finally to black. Similarly, the night begins with a whitish hue, gradually darkening until it becomes completely black, enveloping everything in darkness. It is called {شفق} due to its gentle nature, and from it, the term 'compassion' is derived, implying a gentle heart. {والّيل} refers to the night that overcomes and dispels it. {وما وسق} means what has been gathered and driven forth in its belly, including the aforementioned luminescence, the preceding day, the stars that were made visible, and other wondrous signs that demonstrate the capability of its Creator to bring into existence that which did not previously exist, and to dispel that which did, thereby showcasing the power to create and recreate, as well as to accomplish all that is desired. {والقمر} refers to the moon, which is a sign from Him. {إذا اتسق} means when it becomes full, ordered, and complete, its matter being perfected on the night of its creation, after having been initially absent, then appearing as a small, faint crescent, and continually increasing until it reaches its full state, only to then decrease until it disappears.

The introductory 'fa' (then) is dropped, indicating the reason, unlike what is found in Surah At-Tin, due to the context requiring it. He said: {لهم أجر} (they will have a reward), meaning a great and abundant reward that Allah knows, which is overlooking their minor sins and covering them. {غير ممنون} (not limited), meaning not cut off or incomplete, or a blessing that is not withheld from them in this life and the next. They will be given that on the Day of Judgment, the day when the sky will be torn apart and the earth will be stretched out, and the disbelievers will be repaid for what they used to do. The end of the verse returns to its beginning, and its structure is properly connected with its preceding verse.

When the sky has split [open]

And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so]

And when the earth has been extended

And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it]

And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] -

O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it.

Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand,

He will be judged with an easy account

And return to his people in happiness.

But as for he who is given his record behind his back,

He will cry out for destruction

And [enter to] burn in a Blaze.

Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness;

Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah].

But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing.

So I swear by the twilight glow

And [by] the night and what it envelops

And [by] the moon when it becomes full

[That] you will surely experience state after state.

So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe,

And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]?

But those who have disbelieved deny,

And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves.

So give them tidings of a painful punishment,

Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted.
