بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Verse 1 - Surah Al-Qaari'a: 1 word

ٱلْقَارِعَةُ

The Striking Calamity -

ٱلْقَارِعَةُ al-qāriʿatu The Striking Calamity

Verse 2 - Surah Al-Qaari'a: 2 words

مَا ٱلْقَارِعَةُ

What is the Striking Calamity?

مَا mā What
ٱلْقَارِعَةُ l-qāriʿatu (is) the Striking Calamity

Verse 3 - Surah Al-Qaari'a: 4 words

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْقَارِعَةُ

And what can make you know what is the Striking Calamity?

وَمَآ wamā And what
أَدْرَىٰكَ adrāka will make you know
مَا mā what
ٱلْقَارِعَةُ l-qāriʿatu (is) the Striking Calamity

Verse 4 - Surah Al-Qaari'a: 5 words

يَوْمَ يَكُونُ ٱلنَّاسُ كَٱلْفَرَاشِ ٱلْمَبْثُوثِ

It is the Day when people will be like moths, dispersed,

يَوْمَ yawma (The) Day
يَكُونُ yakūnu will be
ٱلنَّاسُ l-nāsu the mankind
كَٱلْفَرَاشِ kal-farāshi like moths
ٱلْمَبْثُوثِ l-mabthūthi scattered

Verse 5 - Surah Al-Qaari'a: 4 words

وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ ٱلْمَنفُوشِ

And the mountains will be like wool, fluffed up.

وَتَكُونُ watakūnu And will be
ٱلْجِبَالُ l-jibālu the mountains
كَٱلْعِهْنِ kal-ʿih'ni like wool
ٱلْمَنفُوشِ l-manfūshi fluffed up

Verse 6 - Surah Al-Qaari'a: 4 words

فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ

Then as for one whose scales are heavy [with good deeds],

فَأَمَّا fa-ammā Then as for
مَن man (him) whose
ثَقُلَتْ thaqulat (are) heavy
مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ mawāzīnuhu his scales

Verse 7 - Surah Al-Qaari'a: 4 words

فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍۢ رَّاضِيَةٍۢ

He will be in a pleasant life.

فَهُوَ fahuwa Then he
فِى fī (will be) in
عِيشَةٍۢ ʿīshatin a life
رَّاضِيَةٍۢ rāḍiyatin pleasant

Verse 8 - Surah Al-Qaari'a: 4 words

وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ

But as for one whose scales are light,

وَأَمَّا wa-ammā But as for
مَنْ man (him) whose
خَفَّتْ khaffat (are) light
مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ mawāzīnuhu his scales

Verse 9 - Surah Al-Qaari'a: 2 words

فَأُمُّهُۥ هَاوِيَةٌۭ

His refuge will be an abyss.

فَأُمُّهُۥ fa-ummuhu His abode
هَاوِيَةٌۭ hāwiyatun (will be the) Pit

Verse 10 - Surah Al-Qaari'a: 4 words

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا هِيَهْ

And what can make you know what that is?

وَمَآ wamā And what
أَدْرَىٰكَ adrāka will make you know
مَا mā what
هِيَهْ hiyah it is

Verse 11 - Surah Al-Qaari'a: 2 words

نَارٌ حَامِيَةٌۢ

It is a Fire, intensely hot.

نَارٌ nārun A Fire
حَامِيَةٌۢ ḥāmiyatun intensely hot

God and His angels shower their blessings on the Prophet. O believers, you should also send your blessings on him, and salute him with a worthy greeting.
