To pronounce the name The Delayer in Arabic, we say: Al-Mu'akhkhir.
It is written in Arabic: المؤخر.
From the Arabic root أ-خ-ر (ʾ-kh-r, lateness), مُؤَخِّر (mu'akhkhir) is the Form II active participle, the one who delays by wisdom.
The Name “The Delayer” means: The One who delays or sets back whom He wills in wisdom and justice. It affirms a perfection belonging to Allah without defect, limit, or resemblance to creation. In al-Ghazali’s perspective, the believer never claims to share the divine attribute in its reality; instead, the Name gives an orientation suited to the condition of a servant.
Meditating on this Name calls the believer to ask for upright guidance, learn the truth, and guide others with knowledge, patience, and kindness. Knowledge of the Name thereby becomes worship, refinement of character, and trust in Allah alone.
