Definition Al-khṭf

Al-khṭf according to An-Nihaya (Ibn al-Athir)

Snatching a thing and taking it swiftly; one says 'khatifa l-shay'a yakhfutuhu' and 'ikhtatafahu yakhtatifuhu'. One says 'khatafa yakhfifu', though that is rare.

Al-khṭf according to At-Tawqif (Al-Munawi)

The snatching (ikhtilas) with speed.

Al-khṭf according to At-Ta'rifat al-Fiqhiyya (Al-Barkati)

It is seizing with speed, and 'the khatfa' is the snatching.

Al-khṭf in the Quran

﴿إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ ٱلْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٌۭ ثَاقِبٌۭ

« Except one who snatches [some words] by theft, but they are pursued by a burning flame, piercing [in brightness]. »

Surah الصافات : 10
