Definition Wkl

Wkl according to Al-Qamus al-Fiqhi

Upon Allah, in the form waklan: to commit oneself to Him. To hand the affair to one, in the forms waklan and wakwalan: to surrender it to him. To delegate it to him and be content with him. Such a one, in the form tawki la: to be content with him for one's affairs in trust. In the matter, or upon it: to entrust it to him. Al-taklan: reliance and entrusting. Al-tawakkul: verbal noun of tawakkala. Among the Hanafis: trust in what is with Allah the Most High and despair of what is in the hands of men. Among the Shafi'is: reliance and the showing of inability. Among the Ibadis: rest upon what is with Allah the Most High of bounty or legal judgement; it is assurance and serenity towards Allah over what He holds of all bounties, and it is higher than certainty. According to Dhu al-Nun al-Misri: to abandon the management of oneself and be stripped of means and power. According to Sahl ibn Abd Allah: to let oneself go with Allah the Most High as He wills; or: a heart that lives with Allah unshackled. Al-tawki l: to rely on another and make him act in one's stead. Al-waka la: the noun of wakkala. A verbal noun in the sense of taus kil. In the Law: the setting up of a person in the place of oneself, generally or restrictedly. (Ibn Hajar). In al-Majalla (article 1449): the entrusting of one's affair by one person to another and his establishment in his place; the former is called muwakkil, the one established in his place waki l, and the matter muwakkal bihi. Al-wika la: the waka la. Al-waki l: one of the names of Allah the Most High. In the noble Book: [an-Nisa, 81: 'And put thy trust in Allah: Allah suffices as trustee.'], that is: He suffices as guardian, helper and aid for him who trusts in Him and deputises him. The Preserver. In the Quran: [al-An'am, 102: 'That is Allah, your Lord: no god is there but He, the creator of all things, so serve Him; and He is trustee over all things.'], that is: guardian. He who exerts himself in the work of another and acts in his place. It may be for the plural and the feminine: one says: they are waki l for such a one, and she is waki la. (plural) wukala'. In the Quran: [an-Nisa, 109: 'Lo, you are they who disputed for them in the life of the world: but who will dispute with Allah for them on the day of resurrection, or who will be a trustee over them?'], that is: who will stand surety for them.
