Verse 1 - Surah Al-Faatiha: 4 words

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

بِسْمِ bis'mi In (the) name

ٱللَّهِ l-lahi (of) Allah

ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ l-raḥmāni the Most Gracious

ٱلرَّحِيمِ l-raḥīmi the Most Merciful

Verse 2 - Surah Al-Faatiha: 4 words

ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

[All] praise is [due] to Allah, Lord of the worlds -

ٱلْحَمْدُ al-ḥamdu All praises and thanks

لِلَّهِ lillahi (be) to Allah

رَبِّ rabbi the Lord

ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ l-ʿālamīna of the universe

Verse 3 - Surah Al-Faatiha: 2 words

ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

The Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful,

ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ al-raḥmāni The Most Gracious

ٱلرَّحِيمِ l-raḥīmi the Most Merciful

Verse 4 - Surah Al-Faatiha: 3 words

مَـٰلِكِ يَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ

Sovereign of the Day of Recompense.

مَـٰلِكِ māliki (The) Master

يَوْمِ yawmi (of the) Day

ٱلدِّينِ l-dīni (of the) Judgment

Verse 5 - Surah Al-Faatiha: 4 words

إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ

It is You we worship and You we ask for help.

إِيَّاكَ iyyāka You Alone

نَعْبُدُ naʿbudu we worship

وَإِيَّاكَ wa-iyyāka and You Alone

نَسْتَعِينُ nastaʿīnu we ask for help

Verse 6 - Surah Al-Faatiha: 3 words

ٱهْدِنَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ

Guide us to the straight path -

ٱهْدِنَا ih'dinā Guide us

ٱلصِّرَٰطَ l-ṣirāṭa (to) the path

ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ l-mus'taqīma the straight

Verse 7 - Surah Al-Faatiha: 9 words

صِرَٰطَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ ٱلْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا ٱلضَّآلِّينَ

The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor, not of those who have evoked [Your] anger or of those who are astray.

صِرَٰطَ ṣirāṭa (The) path

ٱلَّذِينَ alladhīna (of) those

أَنْعَمْتَ anʿamta You have bestowed (Your) Favors

عَلَيْهِمْ ʿalayhim on them

غَيْرِ ghayri not (of)

ٱلْمَغْضُوبِ l-maghḍūbi those who earned (Your) wrath

عَلَيْهِمْ ʿalayhim on themselves

وَلَا walā and not

ٱلضَّآلِّينَ l-ḍālīna (of) those who go astray
