Biography of Aws ibn Hawshab
Aws ibn Hushab al-Ansari
Ahmad ibn Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Abdullah permitted it for him, to be told to us by Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Isa al-Attar, in the year 348, to be told to us by Abu Muhammad Abdan ibn Muhammad ibn Isa al-Faqih, to be told to us by Ahmad al-Khaliili, to be told to us by Yazid ibn Harun, to be told to us by al-Jariri, from Abu al-Salil, he said: My father told me, he said: I witnessed the Prophet (peace be upon him) sitting in the house of a man from the Ansar, who was called Aws ibn Hushab, and a child was brought to him, and it was placed in his hand, and he said: What is this?, and they said: O Messenger of Allah, it is milk and honey, and he put it down from his hand, and he said: These are two drinks, we do not drink them and we do not prohibit them, so whoever humbles himself to Allah, Allah will elevate him, and whoever is arrogant, Allah will punish him, and whoever arranges his life well, Allah will provide for him.
Abu Musa said: This is a rare hadith from this route, and it was narrated that Talhah ibn Ubayd Allah was the one who brought the Prophet (peace be upon him) this in Mecca, and said what he said, and Allah knows best.
It was narrated by the three (Ibn Manda, Abū Nuʿaym, Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr).
