Biography of al-Jarrah ibn Abi al-Jarrah
Jarir ibn Abu al-Jarrah al-Ashja'i had his companionship, and Abdullah ibn Uthman ibn Masud narrated from him.
We were informed by Abu Yasir ibn Hibat Allah, with his chain of narration to Ibn Ahmad ibn Hanbal, said: My father narrated to me, We were informed by Abu Dawud, We were informed by Hisham, from Qatada, from Khalis, from Abdullah ibn Uthman, said: Abdullah ibn Masud came to a man who had married a woman, then he died without consummating the marriage and without paying her dowry. They asked him about her for a month, but he said nothing about her. Then they asked him again, and he said, 'I will say about her according to my opinion. If it is a mistake, it is from me and from the devil. If it is correct, it is from Allah.' She has a charity from one of her wives, and she has an inheritance, and she has a waiting period. A man from Ashja' stood up and said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has made a decision for us in the case of Barwa bint Washiq.' He said, 'Bring your witnesses to testify to this.' He said, 'So Abu Sinan and Jarir, two men from Ashja', testified to this.
It was narrated by the three (Ibn Manda, Abū Nuʿaym, Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr).
