Biography of al-Harith ibn Aws ibn Mu'adh
Al-Harith ibn Aws ibn Ma'adh ibn al-Nu'man ibn Amr al-Qays ibn Zayd ibn Abd al-Ashhal ibn Jashm ibn al-Harith ibn al-Khazraj ibn Amr. He is the Nabit ibn Malik ibn al-Aws al-Ansari al-Awsi then al-Asbahi.
He is known as: Abu Aws, and he is the son of the brother of Sa'd ibn Ma'adh.
He witnessed Badr, and was killed as a martyr on the Day of Uhud. It was said that he was killed at the age of twenty-eight, as stated by Abu 'Umar.
Al-Qa'qa' ibn Waqqas reported from 'A'ishah, she said: I went out on the Day of the Trench, and I was walking when I heard the earth tremble behind me, meaning: the earth trembled. I turned around, and there was Sa'd ibn Ma'adh. I sat down with him, and his nephew Al-Harith ibn Aws was with him. This indicates that he lived after Uhud.
He was among those who witnessed the killing of Ibn al-Ashraf.
Ibn Ishaq said: He did not have any children.
He was reported by the three, except that Ibn Mandah and Abu Na'im did not mention that he was killed on the Day of Uhud. Instead, they mentioned the hadith of 'A'ishah, and Allah knows best.
