Biography of Ash-Shifa bint Abdullah
Al-Shifa bint Abdullah bin Abdul Shams bin Khalaf bin Sadad bin Abdullah bin Qart bin Razah bin Adi bin Kaab bin Luay Al-Qurashiyah Al-Adawiya, mother of Suleiman bin Abi Khathma. Another report states: Her name is Laila. She converted to Islam in the past. She was one of the women who pledged allegiance, and one of the first emigrants. Her mother is Fatima bint Abi Wahb bin Amr bin Aidh bin Amr bin Makhzum. She was one of the wisest and virtuous women. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, was taking a nap there. She made a bed for him and a loincloth for him to sleep in, and that remained with her until Marwan took it from them. She was performing ruqyah from an ant, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, commanded her to teach it to Hafsa. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, gave her a house with the rulers, so she stayed with her son Sulaiman. Omar, peace be upon him, gave her an opinion and was pleased with her.

Reported by Abu Yasser, on the authority of Abdullah bin Ahmad, who said: My father told me, Hashim bin Al-Qasim told us, Al-Masoudi told us, on the authority of Abdullah bin Umair, on the authority of a man from the family of Abu Khathmah, on the authority of Al-Shifa' bint Abdullah, who was an emigrant woman, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, was asked about the best deeds. He said: "Faith in Allah, jihad in His cause, and an accepted Hajj." Al-Awza'i narrated, on the authority of Al-Zuhri, on the authority of Umm Salamah, on the authority of Al-Shifa bint Abdullah, said: "I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, to ask him. He began to apologize to me and I blame him." She said: "So I attended the prayer, then I went out and went in to see my daughter while she was married to Sharhabeel bin Hasna. I found Sharhabeel in the house and I said: I attended the prayer and you are at home!" I began to blame him, so he said: Aunt, do not blame me, for we had a dress, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, borrowed it.
I said: May my father and mother be sacrificed for you. I was blaming him, and this is his condition, but I did not realize it! Sharhabeel said: "It was nothing but a shield that we patched up." Othman bin Suleiman bin Abi Hathmah narrated, on the authority of Al-Shifa bint Abdullah, that she used to perform ruqyah in pre-Islamic times, and that when she migrated to the Prophet ﷺ and she had pledged allegiance to him in Mecca before he left, she came to him and said: O Messenger of Allah, I used to perform ruqyah in pre-Islamic times. I wanted to show it to her.
