[80.3 - Jundub ibn Damra]

Jundub b. Damra al-Laythi was the one to whom Allah revealed: 'And whoever leaves his home as an emigrant to Allah and His Messenger, then death overtakes him, his reward is with Allah.'

However, scholars have differed in his name.

According to Tawus, from Ibn Abbas, a man from the Banu Layth, named Jundub b. Damra, was wealthy and had four sons, he said: 'O Allah, I will support Your Messenger with myself, but I will return from the darkness of the polytheists to the house of migration, so I will be with the Prophet ﷺ and increase the number of the emigrants and the helpers, he said to his sons: 'Carry me to the house of migration, so I will be with the Prophet ﷺ, and they carried him, but when they reached Tan'im, he died, so Allah revealed: 'And whoever leaves his home as an emigrant to Allah and His Messenger, then death overtakes him, his reward is with Allah.'

According to Hammad b. Salama, from Muhammad b. Ishaq, from Yazid b. Abdullah b. Qasit, the same.

According to Hujja b. Muhallab, from Muhammad b. Ishaq, from Yazid b. Qasit, the same.

It is also reported that his name was Jund' b. Damra, and most of the companions of Ibn Ishaq agreed with him.

According to Ikrima, from Ibn Abbas: Damra b. Abu al-A'ish, and Abd al-Ghani b. Sa'id said: his name was Damra.

According to Abu Salih, from Ibn Abbas: his name was Jund' b. Damra, and it was said: Dizmim b. Amr al-Khuzai, and this is mentioned by Ibn Mandah and Abu Naim.

As for Abu Umar, he said: Jundub b. Damra al-Jundai, when it was revealed: 'Did not the earth of Allah expand so that they could migrate in it?' he said: 'O Allah, I have fulfilled the obligation and the excuse, and there is no excuse or obligation, then he left and was an old man, and he died on the way, and some of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ said: he died before migrating, so we do not know if he has a reward or not? so Allah revealed: 'And whoever leaves his home as an emigrant to Allah and His Messenger, then death overtakes him, his reward is with Allah.'

It was narrated by the three (Ibn Manda, Abū Nuʿaym, Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr).

[80.4 - Jundub ibn Abdullah]

Jundub b. Abdullah b. Sufyan al-Bajali al-Alqi, Alqi is a branch of Bajila, and he is Alqi b. Ubqar b. Anmar b. Irash b. Amr b. al-Ghuth, the brother of Azd b. al-Ghuth.

He had a late companionship, and he was known as Abu Abdullah, and he lived in Kufa, then he moved to Basra, and he entered it with Mus'ab b. al-Zubayr.

He was narrated from by the people of Basra: al-Hasan, Muhammad, Anas b. Sirin, Abu al-Sawar al-Adawi, Bahr b. Abdullah, Yunus b. Jubayr al-Bahili, Safwan b. Muhriz, and Abu Imran al-Juni, and he was narrated from by the people of Kufa Abd al-Malik b. Umar, al-Aswad b. Qais, and Salm b. Kahil.

He narrated from Abu b. Ka'b, and Hudhayfa, and al-Hasan said: the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Whoever prays the morning prayer is in the protection of Allah, so look, Allah will not ask you about anything from His protection.'

Ibn Mandah and Abu Naim said: and he was also known as Jundub al-Khayr, and Ibn al-Kalbi mentioned that Jundub al-Khayr is Jundub b. Abdullah b. al-Akram al-Azdi al-Ghamdi.

Abdullah al-Bajali sent a messenger to As'as b. Salama, during the time of the Fitna of Ibn al-Zubayr, he said: 'Gather some of your brothers until I inform them, so he sent a messenger to them, and when they gathered, Jundub came, and he had a yellow burnous, and he removed the burnous from his head, and he said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent a delegation of Muslims to a group of polytheists, and they met, and a man from the polytheists, if he wanted to attack a man from the Muslims, he would attack him, and kill him, and a man from the Muslims'
