Harith ibn Shayban

S: Harith ibn Shihab, a companion of Bakr ibn Shihab.

He said Abu Musa: So said Abdan, he said: It was also said: Harith ibn Hassan, and both are one.

He was narrated by Abu Musa.

I said: This is what Abu Musa narrated from Abdan, one of the most astonishing and strange sayings in his genealogy, and in the tribe he came from. Which tribe is Bakr ibn Shihab? If reversed, it would be closer to the truth, and his saying: And both are one, how can they be one? One of them is Harith ibn Shihab, and the other Harith, or Harith ibn Hassan. Perhaps he saw Harith ibn Shihab and altered it, and made a son in his place, and this often occurs.
