Biography of Raja' ibn al-Jallas
B: Aban ibn Sa'id was mentioned by some as one of the Companions.
Abd al-Rahman ibn Amr ibn Jabala reported from Umm Bilj, from Umm al-Jalas, from her father Aban ibn Sa'id, that he asked the Prophet ﷺ about the caliph after him, and he said: 'Abu Bakr'.
This chain of transmission is weak and should not be relied upon.
It was reported by Abu 'Umar, and he later reported the hadith from Zayd ibn al-Jalas, and one of them was mistaken, and Allah knows best about al-Jalas: with the jīm letter pronounced with a dhamma and the lām letter pronounced lightly.
[2 - Aban ibn Sa'id]
Aban ibn Sa'id was a Companion, and he resided in Basra. He was injured on the day of the Camel.
Salama bint al-Ja'd reported from him, that he said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever Allah has granted the preservation of His Book, and he thinks that someone else has received something better than what he has, then he has diminished the greatest of blessings'.
It was reported by the three (Ibn Manda, Abū Nuʿaym, Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr), and Abu 'Umar said: his hadith is not authentic.
Salama reported from him, and Ibn Mandah named her, and Abu 'Umar said: she was a resident.
And it was reported to him: 'Whoever does not seek healing with the Quran, then Allah will not heal him'.
And Abu Nu'aym said: Aban ibn Sa'id was a woman who was a Companion.
