Zayd ibn as-Samit

Zaid b. al-Samat al-Ansari, or Zaid b. al-Nu'man, or Ubayd b. Mu'awiya b. al-Samat b. Yazid b. Khalida b. Makhilid b. Amir b. Zariq Abu 'Ayyash al-Zarqi. There is more disagreement about his lineage than this, and his kunyas are mentioned in more detail than this, God willing.

Abu 'Umar said: Zaid b. al-Samat is the most accurate of what has been said about him.

He is counted among the people of Hijaz. Anas b. Malik, one of the Companions, and Abu Salih al-Samman, and Mujahid, reported from him, but it is not sound to narrate from them because he died early.
