Biography of Sa'd ibn Mas'ud al-Kindi
Sa'd ibn Mas'ud al-Kandi said Ibn Mandah: His companionship is not valid, and he is a Kufan, mentioned among the Companions, narrated about him Qais ibn Abi Hazim, and Muslim ibn Yasar.
Ibn Mandah narrated through his chain, from Abd al-Rahman ibn Ziyad ibn An'am, from Muslim ibn Yasar, that Sa'd ibn Mas'ud said:
The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever sends someone on a task but does not endure, then he recited:
'Indeed, I only complain to Allah of my sending and my sorrow.'
We were informed by Umar ibn Muhammad ibn Tabarzada, and others, that Ibn al-Husayn said, that Ibn Ghilan said, that Abu Bakr al-Shafi'i said, that Mu'adh ibn al-Muthanna said, that Abd Allah, meaning Abu Muhammad ibn Asma', said, that Ibn al-Mubarak said, that Yahya ibn Ayyub said, from Ubayd Allah ibn Zuhri, from Sa'd ibn Mas'ud, that he said:
The Messenger of Allah was asked which of the believers is most fearful, he said: 'The most of them is fearful of death in remembrance, and the best of them is in preparation for it.'
It was narrated by the three (Ibn Manda, Abū Nuʿaym, Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr).
