Sa'id ibn Yarbu'

Sa'id ibn Yarb'ū' ibn 'Ankathah ibn 'Amir ibn Makhzūm al-Qurashī al-Makhzūmī, Abū Hūd and it was said: Abū 'Abd al-Raḥmān, and his mother was Hind bint Sa'id bint Ri'āb ibn Sāhim, and al-Zubayr said: his mother was Hind bint Abī al-Maṭ'ā ibn 'Uthmān ibn 'Amr ibn Ka'b ibn Sa'd ibn Taym ibn Murrah.

It was said: he converted to Islam before the conquest and witnessed it, and it was said: he was among those who converted to Islam at the conquest, and his name was originally Ṣarmā, so the Messenger of God said to him: 'Sa'id', 'Alī ibn al-Madīnī said: his nickname was Ṣarma, and others said: he was Aṣrama, so the Messenger of God named him Sa'id, and there was nothing else.

Umar ibn 'Uthmān ibn 'Abd al-Raḥmān ibn Sa'id ibn Yarb'ū' ibn 'Ankathah narrated from his father, from his grandfather, and his name was originally Ṣarmā, so the Messenger of God named him Sa'id, and the Messenger of God said to him: 'Which of us is older, I or you?' So I said: 'O Messenger of God, you are older than me and later, and I am older in birth than you.' And he was mentioned in the Mufassal Qulūb, and the Messenger of God gave him fifty camels from the spoils of Hunayn, and he also narrated the story of the son of Khathl, al-Hawirith ibn Naqid, and the son of Abī Sarh, and Maqīs ibn Ṣababah, and the Messenger of God ordered their killing, so as for al-Hawirith, 'Alī killed him, and as for Maqīs, al-Zubayr killed him, and as for the son of Abī Sarh, 'Uthmān granted him safety, and his mother the son of Khathl was also killed.

He died in Medina in the year forty-four, and it was said: in Mecca, and he was one hundred and twenty-four years old, and it was said: one hundred and twenty years old, and he had a house in Medina, and he was blind during the time of 'Umar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb, so 'Umar came to him to console him on the loss of his sight, and said: do not leave the Friday prayer or the congregation in the mosque of the Messenger of God , so he said: I do not have a leader, so 'Umar sent a leader from the captives to him.
