Biography of Salama ibn Nafi'
S: Salama b. Nufay' al-Jarmi had companionship, narrated from him Jabir al-Jarmi, said Abu 'Umar al-Kadha' (lying) briefly.
And he said Ibn Mandah, and Abu Nai'm: Salama b. Abu Salama al-Jarmi, father of 'Amr b. Salama al-Jarmi.
And they narrated from Masruq b. Habib, said: I heard 'Amr b. Salama al-Jarmi, that his father, and a group of his people came to the Prophet ﷺ when the people had become Muslim, so they became Muslim, and learned the Quran, so they said: O Messenger of Allah, who will pray for us? He said: 'The one who takes the most of the Quran will pray for you.'
He said: So when they came, they did not find anyone who took more than what I took or gathered, so I used to pray with them, and I have not seen a gathering of the Jarmi except that I was their imam until this day.
He was narrated by the three.
I said: Ibn Mandah and Abu Nai'm narrated Salama b. Nufay' on the detail which we presented, and the hadith which they narrated indicates that Salama this with a broken alif, for 'Amr b. Salama al-Jarmi who used to lead his people is 'Amr b. Salama with a broken alif, and they all mentioned this in the middle of the chapter of Salama with a fat alif, and Ibn Mandah and Abu Nai'm did not mention any other, but Abu 'Umar mentioned another translation: Salama b. Qais al-Jarmi, father of 'Amr b. Salama, and he said: this is the father of 'Amr with a broken alif.
He was narrated by Abu Musa briefly, so he said: Salama b. Nufay', mentioned by al-Tabarani, and he did not provide anything for him.
