Simak ibn Thabit

Sama' ibn Kharsa. It was said: Sama' ibn Aws ibn Kharsa ibn Lu'than ibn 'Abd Wud ibn Zayd ibn Tha'laba ibn al-Khazraj ibn Sa'da ibn Ka'b ibn al-Khazraj the Ansari al-Sa'idi Abu Dujana. He was well-known by his kunya. He witnessed the Battle of Badr, the Battle of Uhud, and all the other battles with the Messenger of Allah. The Messenger of Allah gave him his sword on the Day of Uhud, saying: 'Whoever takes this sword rightfully,' but the people hesitated. Abu Dujana said: 'I will take it rightfully.' The Messenger of Allah then handed it to him, and he split the chest of the polytheists with it. The Messenger of Allah said about that:

I am the one who made a promise to my friend … and we are at the slope near the palm trees

that I will not stand in the valleys … I will strike with the sword of Allah and the Messenger

Abu Ja'far 'Ubayd Allah ibn Ahmad ibn 'Ali informed us in his isnad from Yunus ibn Bukayr from Ibn Ishaq, he said:

Husayn ibn 'Abd Allah ibn 'Ubayd Allah ibn 'Abbas informed me from Ikrima from Ibn 'Abbas, he said:

When the Messenger of Allah returned from Uhud, he gave his daughter Fatimah his sword, saying: 'O my daughter, wash this blood from it.' He also gave Ali his sword, saying: 'And this, wash the blood from it.' By Allah, he was truthful to me today. The Messenger of Allah said: 'If you were truthful in your fighting, Sahl ibn Hunayf and Abu Dujana were truthful.'

He was one of the well-known brave men, and he had a red belt that he would recognize in war. When it was the Day of Uhud, he recognized it and moved between the two lines, saying: 'This is a way that Allah dislikes except in this place.'

Abu al-Faraj Yahya ibn Mahmud and Abu Yasir ibn Abu Habba informed us in their isnad to Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj, he said:

Abu Bakr ibn Abu Shayba informed us, 'Affan informed us, Hammad ibn Salama informed us, Thabit informed us from Anas, that the Messenger of Allah took a sword on the Day of Uhud, saying: 'Who will take this from me?' They stretched out their hands, and each person said: 'I will.' He said: 'Who will take it rightfully?' The people hesitated, and Sama' Abu Dujana said: 'I will take it rightfully.' He took it and split the chest of the polytheists with it.

He was one of the virtuous companions and one of the most prominent among them. He was martyred on the Day of Yamama after he had performed a great deed there. The Banu Hanifa in Yamama had a garden that they would fight from behind it. The Muslims did not want to enter it, so Abu Dujana ordered them to throw them into it, and they did. His leg was broken, and he fought at the gate of the garden, pushing the polytheists away, and the Muslims entered it. He was killed on that day. It was said: But he lived until he witnessed the Battle of Siffin with 'Ali. The first is more authentic and more widespread. As for the armor attributed to him, its isnad is weak.
