Maryam al-Qibtiyyah

Reported by Abd al-Rahman bin Yahya, on the authority of Maimuna, who said: That the Prophet ﷺ ate a shoulder, then prayed and did not perform ablution. [Maria al-Qibtiyyah]: The mother of Abraham, son of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Al-Muqawqis was the king of Alexandria. He gave her as a gift to the Prophet ﷺ and he was born to him from her: Ibrahim, eight years after he arrived in Medina. Ibrahim lived for a year, ten months and eight days. He then died, and Maria, mother of Ibrahim, died five years after the Prophet ﷺ. Reported by Muhammad bin Yaqoub, on the authority of Muhammad bin Ishaq, who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, was in the possession of his right hand: Rayhana bint Amr bin Hudhafa. He had no children from her until he died, and Mariyah al-Qibtiyyah, who bore him Ibrahim, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, had no children except from Khadija and Mariyah.

Reported by Ahmad ibn al-Hasan ibn Utbah, on the authority of Anas ibn Malik, who said: Umm Ibrahim was the concubine of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, in her drinking room, which was called Umm Ibrahim's drinking room. A Nabati used to be in the city and would take refuge in it, and bring it water and firewood. Most of the people did so until they said: It is nothing but a cloak for him to take refuge in. He struggled, until he reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: One day he sent Ali to him and ordered him to kill him. He said: Then Ali came and found him on a palm tree, and with Ali the sword. When he saw the Nabataean with the sword, he fell into a state of despair and threw his cloak from the top of the palm trees. Then he came down and saw that he was summoned. Ali returned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and said: O Messenger of Allah, what if you ordered one of us to do the matter? Then he saw something else. Does he check with you?

He said: Yes, so tell him what he saw from the Nabataean. He said: Then Ibrahim's mother gave birth to his son. He was in love with him, until Gabriel, peace be upon him, came to him and said: Peace be upon you, O Abu Ibrahim. He said: Then he knew that it was his son. It is strange from the hadith of Al-Zuhri, it is only known about it from this route. Reported by Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Ziyad and Muhammad bin Yaqoub, on the authority of his grandfather, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called me and there was a lot of talk about Maria, Umm Ibrahim, about a cousin of hers visiting her and a Copt coming to her, so he said: Take this sword and go, and if you find it then kill him, so I said: O Messenger. Allah, I will follow your command like a hot rail, and nothing will stop me until I fulfill what you commanded me to do, or the witness sees what the absent person does not see?

Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, said: Rather, the witness sees what the absent person does not see, so I approached, brandishing the sword. I found him there. When he saw me, I unsheathed my sword and knew that I wanted it. He tugged at a palm tree and rose through it, until when he was in some of it and I approached it, he threw himself on his back, and then began to bury his feet, and behold, he wiped his wealth from what men have, whether little or much, so I sheathed the sword, then I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Peace be upon him, so I told him the news. He said: Praise be to Allah, the Ahl al-Bayt will leave us. It was narrated by Sufyan Al-Thawri, on the authority of Muhammad bin Omar bin Ali, on the authority of his father, on the authority of his grandfather, and the hadith of Ibn Ishaq is more complete.

Reported by Ahmed bin Al-Hasan bin Utba, on the authority of his father, who said: The Coptic prince gave the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, two slave girls and a mule. He was riding the mule in Medina, so he took one of the two slave girls for himself. She gave birth to Ibrahim. He gave the other to Hassan bin Thabit, who was the mother of Abd al-Rahman bin Hassan, and her name was Sirin.
